Chakdaha is a prominent urban local body in the district of Nadia – Nadia being one of the southern districts of West Bengal. Located on the banks of Bhagirathi River, Chakdaha derived its name from its mythological past. According to one of these stories, when river Bhagirathi was taking Ganga along this path, the wheel (Chaka) of his chariot got stuck in the sand, and from then on, that place became known as chakradaha or Chakdaha. Chakdaha is located between 22o 15’’47’ north latitude and 88 o 18’52 ’’ east longitudes on the world map. Presently the Municipality consists of 21 wards covering an area of 15.36 sqkms with a population of 95203 persons in 2011.

This assumes significance, as facilities/amenities have to be planned for this age group to ensure a safe and healthy living.
